The school she goes to should actually be able to tell you and hire one for your daughter.

If you just call the school, and talk to an advisor or who ever answers...They should deff. be able to direct you in the right direction.

While I think the Sylvan Learning Centers are great places to get help, often times it is financially not possible..or like our area..itis not available. When my children were in high school the National Honor Society had a tutoring program and both of my chcildren tutored kidds in the afternoons. This wa a free program thru the school..but if not available you may can get a high school student to do this for a small fee. Often times kids will respond better to a teenager than to a teacher.

The Sylvan Learning Centres are very good although they can be pricey. They guarantee results and have proven instructional methods. They will assess your child's weaknesses and strengths and make lessons geared towards success. You could also ask your school if they know of any tutors in your area. Sometimes college students and high school students offer tutoring services at a reasonable cost.

sylvan does tutoring , they're pricey tho. You can also ask your child's teacher or if there is a university education faculty , ask if the students tutor young kids. Many do to make extra money on the side.

Practice with her at the dinner table , having her add or subtract dishes or sliverware. Give her pop quizzes on her math facts when she's least expecting it , like doing her hair say what's 2x 5 etc.

As for reading , read with her , help her sound out words she doesn't understand. Let her read a story to her dog or brother or sister or teddy bear or you.

I think at six you really shouldn't worry. K Thur 3rd is the beginning to a whole new child they learn so much. The best thing i did was sit down and read books and play math games with my kids. If your set on a Tutor then talk to her teacher or buy the phonic program and flash cards. Does she know all the #s? Her ABC?

Check with local colleges or at her school. Sometimes teachers or college students will tutor for extra $$. MUCH cheaper than Sylvan or any professional tutoring centers!!
