It isn't too painful, it just feels weird. Like, not normal.

I've had the same issue for about a month. Sometimes worse than others. And the types of pain varied. I knew I've been overly stressed lately and thought that was it. Finally went to the doc the other day cause it's been so long. Plus I've been smoking since I was twelve, now 34. EKG was normal, breathing tests were normal, heart rate/blood pressure normal. Waiting on blood results. Doc gave me Nexium in the meantime to see if the problems were gastro. Just 2 days on that and my pain went from about a 6-8 to a 1-2. After the blood tests come back, doc is thinking I should still get a chest xray to be sure. Go see Doc.

Matthew,
You need to rule out heart conditions, then you can ask that question. Many things can cause those symptoms, that mimic heart problems. Too much caffeine/carbonation, micro-tears in between the rib tissue. The list goes on. Go check out your heart please. Some city colleges offer courses in exercise Physiology. The curriculum includes nutrition, a body fat/muscle test is performed. A treadmill cardio check, and a Chemistry Panel. $15.00.
Also, a one on one with an MD (included in the course), to discuss your results. You work with a trainer also. My son was happy with his results. Part of his homework was working out in the school gym, and at home.
Check it out. Here in Orange County California, it is offered at Orange Coast City College. One Semester only needed to fullfill all requirements. Not too pricey. Back off the heavy lifting, and overhead reaching for now. Eat slowly, and don't drink liquids with your meals. Another problem which seems like a heart problem is an Esophageal Spasm.

Gas?! Muscle pull?! Man!...you're having the early warning that you're going to have a heart attack!!
Your body can handle only a few more of these and Wham! The foolin' around you're doing is not good. I hope there's people around when it hits you...to call an ambulance. 'course you can avoid all that by going to a Dr. or ER today for sure.

It's possible that it's indigestion, but if your chest feels "heavy" like someone sitting on it or the pain moves into your shoulder and/or jaw GO TO THE ER. Also, if you're short of breath or dizzy go to the ER - DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF!!

its best to have it checked out to make sure its not a heart problem. it may be from anxiety or panic.
ask any ER nurse how many people they get in there with chest pains worried about thier heart...and how many are actually having a panic attack. are you under alot of stress? whats your age?previous heart problems?tingeling in left hand?

It could be a muscle pull or something more serious. Please have it checked out with your doctor. Pains in the chest should always be investigated by a doctor.

Could be Anxiety. I know I went to the hospital on many occasions thinking I was having a heart attack but it was just anxiety.

Probably a pulled muscle or small bone fracture,or it could even be gas....the best way to find the right answer is by going to the doc.
