does it burn well? how easily would it be to put a nail though it?

just need to know for my science project. thanxs.

The wood of yellow birch is heavy, hard and strong. It has very good bending properties, with good crushing strength and shock resistance. It is very good for woodworking.
As a wood to burn it would burn well if dried. It is usually very slow to dry so it would need to be stored before it would burn properly.

It has a high sap content,Makes a hot fire.Good for starting a camp fire use the paper bark for tender to get the fire going. They make toothpicks and Popsicle sticks from them.
