Gods Judgement has been passed and his work is done. We wait for it to be fulfilled and that is not going to be that much longer.
It is nearer than you think.

I too, have a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, and there are several theories that discuss the belief in God from a sociological standpoint.
Consider Carl Jung and his theory of a "collective conscience." It was his affirmation that because all societies have some type of deity, that some kind of God must exist.
I don't know of any particular theories that discuss the belief of "judgmental God" per say.
Hope this helps.
Chris-- you are right, there is nothing hateful in his post and I've deleted that word. I just know that guy and his answers so I read a "tone" into it that may or may not have been there. Thank you for the correction.

Everything in the human experience should disprove the existence of a judgemental god

Frankly, I fail to see how the first poster's post is hateful.
However, surely, sociology would be neutral on the idea?

Billions of theories and logies will come and go but Judgement Day will come and no one can change it. Humans are not sent to earth for the purpose of picnic.
