Taking your cat to the vet is the best thing to do for him. The second best thing to do is keep your cat safe by leaving it indoors only.
You will not have as many vet bills to pay if you do and your cat will live longer and healthier because of it.
Also if you have him neutered he will not be fighting as much.

Since, I can't see the cut, I don't know how bad it is. All I can go by is your description. So, if you don't think it's bad enough to see the vet, then go ahead and clean it like you would if you were cut. You may need to shave/clip the hair around the cut, to help keep the area clean while it heals. It's ok to use an antibiotic ointment like Neosporin. I work for a vet and he tells people that they can use it on their dogs/cats all the time. Keep a close eye out for infection. If it doesn't look better within a couple days, then get your dog into the vet.

Maybe put a little peroxide or something similar on it. But be ready for a few scratches yourself. Me? Ive had cats around all my life. Ive had some old tom cats that have came home with half their ears chewed off from fighting. They lay around the house and heal up, then go back out after a week and do it again-kinda like a old drunk. Really, unless your cat is bleeding i wouldnt worry about it. Cats fight. He/she will be ok.

I'm not a vet, so I'd take him there first, but if not, then I'd get some antiseptic ointment, like NeoSporin and first, I'd wash the area out very well with warm, soapy water and then I'd use Peroxide over the wound, after it dries. Once dry, apply NeoSporin.
I would then take my cat to get neutered immediately. They only fight like this over female cats...and it's good to netuer him to stop the urge to fight.
Lots of things can be transferred to him by teeth, saliva and blood. I'd be very sure to try to stop the fighting best as I could, so he lived a long life.
Other than that, lots of love and snuggles should help. :)

Put some Neosporin on and let it dry. Then wrap a small ace bandage around the stomach diagonally covering the cut and around the arm. If you put it on right, it will still be able to walk.

I'm with Puppyraiser. I took care of a kitty that someone abandoned for a while, and she apparently got in a fight. I just put peroxide on her wounds, and she healed with no trouble.
However, you do want to keep an eye on your kitty in case an infection sets in.
Good luck!

My offcial disclaimer is to take your cat to the vet. However, you can clean it with rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide...just like a human cut. I'd refrain from putting any other medicines on it unless you've talked to your vet.

Try peroxide and do not let he eat any. then rinse out with clean warm water. Keep an eye on it and if he is not up-to-date on his shots, really watch the cut.
