Religion: So in Other Words?

With Religion:

We can't listen to 99% of Rap, Rock, Reggae, Pop music.

Can't have Sex before Marriage.

Violent Movies and Music are "of the devil."

Can't Curse / Say Bad Words.

Can't wear Clothes that's too Revealing.

Can't Desire Sex with someone for Pleasure.

Can't eat for Pleasure.

The list goes on and on. So: Why go out? Why don't we all just live in one huge Church that is monitored 24/7?

With Religion: The very moment we are born / life is given to us, we are controlled and it is taken from us. I understand morals, but does Church understand Free-Will? If so, why were there thousands of deaths, people burned, and hangings due to being a Non-Believer?

There is more evil, violence, deviant sex, and potty talk in the BIBLE (committed mostly by God and his followers) than in ANY book, movie, TV show or videogame made today. Anyone who finds fault with today's music, movies, or language dur to religion obviously has NOT read the ENTIRE Bible.

Why are there thousands of deaths for being religious? What is the difference?

All those things you listed are sin (except for eating for pleasure).

The Bible says that the world drinks iniquity (sin) like water. The world loves sin (darkness) and hates the light (truth/Jesus) because sin is sooooooooo pleasurable (for a season). But the end of sin is death. If you want death, go ahead and enjoy your sin. If you want eternal life, then seek repentance and trust in Jesus. That is free will and that is your choice.

Jesus says this "Straight is the gate and narrow is the path that leads to eternal life and few there be that find it. Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction and many there be on it." In other words, Jesus is the only way to God (gate) and his way is to life eternal (repentance and faith). The wide gate is every other false/ work based religion. And the broad road is everything you listed above that leads to your destruction.

No one can take away your will, unless they take your life. The church is supposed to be a group of people that will try to help keep you on Gods narrow path. A kind of human peer group that will say come back or get back up, etc.
There are no rules in my church that say you can't listen to certain types of music...But swearing yourself is a sin...

As far as sex before marriage: We are not to do that either. I did though, before I was convicted of my sins, and honestly I can see very clearly why that rule is in place...It is there to protect you, not irritate you. It protects against STD's unwanted pregnancy & heartache. You should know someone well enough to know you would spend the rest of your life with them before give them that part of your body. (Just go the pregnancy board on here & look at the teen pregnancy rates here alone!)

Scary movies are not from God, mostly just active imaginations...I still on occasion watch them, but I don't let it influence me, which is what the church is worried about.

The clothes that are too revealing thing: is to keep others from being tempted to sin. (I believe that when a woman is raped she is always the victim no matter what she was wearing or where she was or her level of intoxication, the rapist should know better.) However if you go into the woods with out bug spray on, its pretty much a sure thing you'll get chewed by mosquitoes. The woman may be the victim but there are thing women can do to make them a less likely target.

Sex is for pleasure, sexual pleasure, between a husband & wife. And you can have a much pleasure as you want with them. Without worrying about STD's!

And you can eat for pleasure. We just had a very pleasurable breakfast at my church...French toast, eggs bacon, sausage & fruit... You are not to eat to excess. For many very practical reasons, obesity, diabetes, waste of money Etc.

The church is their to help you not go astray...To bring you back when you are lost & at risk of endangering your self. But if you "choose" (freewill) to keep endangering yourself, you will lose the support of the church. Simply Action =Consequence.
You have freewill always but it still has consequences.

Well you see, I believe that PARENTS should teach their kids right from worng. You know, don't steal, don't slap your wife and kids, don't kill people. If parents would just teach their kids, then there would be absolutely no reason for religion in the world at all. Life would be sweet.

Whynotask- It's people like YOU that make me hate religion. You imply that every single person who does not follow a religion has Aids, is a drug addict, Rob Banks, and is involved in shootouts. What i have self belief...it will probably be lengthy. i'm polytheistic. i have self belief interior the Greek Gods and Goddesses. 12 Olympian Gods, plus a million lesser God - Pan. also because the Norse Gods have noted as me, i position self belief in them as well, yet manage them a lot less in ritual than I do the Greek Gods. i'm Wiccan. I follow the Wiccan faith as a "starting up" for my Pagan beliefs. I also percentage some Druid beliefs as well. I evaluate myself an rather skeptical Christian as well, because there is not any evidence in any way that Christ become even ever real. concerning Abrahamic faiths, Christianity and Judaism have fascinated me interior the previous. They nonetheless do.

well...first off, as a Jehovah's Witness, I'd like to say that these "rules" are given to us by God through the Bible. One should only listen to what a MAN says if he supports his rule by the Bible. We understand free will. You are free to do whatever you want right now. But should we be living our lives with that attitude knowing that soon God is coming to destroy wickedness of the face of the earth? There's plenty of decent music that has a beat, then again there's plenty of it that is just plain wrong to be talking about whether you're religious or not. Do you think it's ok to flaunt rape, drugs, promiscuous sex, & other things? Before you answer...think about this: if you have kids, would you want them listening to those things & talking about them & becoming dull to them? Of course not! Jehovah is our loving father & does the same by setting rules for us. We are'nt restricted from having any fun. Would you want your kids becoming use to the act of MURDER & sodomy??? NO! That's why we don't view these types of movies. They are plain wrong, no matter what you believe. The few things you mention here are kinda bad things to ANYbody...yes some are numb to them but is it right? Just keep thinking about it this way: If you had kids (as Jehovah has us as "children", wouldn't you protect them from such bad influences? When they become of age, they will make their own choice, but at 1st they have to be influenced in a good way. This is similiar to us today....Jehovah tells us what to do & we have to make a choice...hopefully the right one, because in the end...our reward is great. dude! i totally understand. i kind of asked the same question, but just got attacked for it, most of which i couldn't even read. i mean, it's like, love God, and accept Him( for me anyways) and do whatever else you want. i know that's kind of hypocritical, but, i think there is a fine line between having faith and not being able to wear revealing clothes, like you said. people take it way too far. you know? and, does God really care if we listen to non-christian music? personally, i look to music for healing, inspiration, and just mental pleasure. i mean, it's the extreemists out there that think you're going to hell because you have a little sex-capade. and, i mean, there is a fine line between having a consciounce (SP?) and, just being told everything that's right and wrong. you have to venture out and find out what you think for yourself. trust me, im in that stage of my life, and it's actually quite great. because, i've found that in the end at night, i can sleep much better knowing that what's for me is right for me, and not for someone else.

Alot of what you're saying is like clergy religion. And I'm not Christian, but people used to live very happily without awful language, violent movies, nonexistent clothing and moralities. And who doesn't eat for pleasure?
