Global warming is a misnomer. What is commonly referred to as global warming is really global climate change because in some areas on our planet the temperature increases and in other places it decreases. It will not destroy the earth but imagine Antarctica with California weather and Canada frozen over perhaps.

I don't think it will destroy the Earth. Climate has shifted in the past and Earth is still here now. However, it could have very adverse effects for human beings. Our current society is designed around a specific type of climate, and we are not prepared to survive in drastically warmer (or colder) temperatures.

Well, first if the world heats up the ice in the poles and else where will end up melting the flooding low lying areas and coastlines. Animals living in cold climates may become extict. Also IT WILL GET HOT!!!! Of course there will be more effects, but this are the basics.
