what a stupid question - from a christian
Usually only christians ask about morality.
you're certainly free to not use a tampon, and to wear bloody underwear and have bloody spots on all your clothes for 1 week every month. Thats entirely your choice. But dont come crying to me asking why everyone thinks you are stupid, weird and/or unhygienic.
PS if you think tampons are wrong, then you probably also believe that pads are wrong because they are, god forbid, not made of "natural fibre"

There is nothing wrong with either option, but some faiths do consider masturbation a sin because it gives one sexual pleasure outside marriage. However, tampons do not give any sort of sexual gratification; if they're inserted properly you can't even feel them. So you can use a pad if you want, or you can use a tampon. It makes no difference. Just because there is an item in the orifice does not mean that it is a sin.

Um.... using a tampon is nothing like masturbation. It makes my life a LOT easier a few days a month, and that's all.
I'm going to be shaking my head about this question for a long time...

Yes, it is exactly the same. Remember the movie "Carrie"? Had she only listened to her lovely mother, none of what happened would have happened. In fact, having a period at all is a sin because those without lust never get one. Wearing a pad is even worse. You enjoy rubbing up against that thing, don't you? Gives you little tingles inside, huh? The Lord will send you to the depths of a fiery, everlasting Hell if this continues:
Leviticus 15:19-30
And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days: and whosoever toucheth her shall be unclean until the even. And every thing that she lieth upon in her separation shall be unclean: every thing also that she sitteth upon shall be unclean. And whosoever toucheth her bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And whosoever toucheth any thing that she sat upon shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. And if it be on her bed, or on any thing whereon she sitteth, when he toucheth it, he shall be unclean until the even. And if any man lie with her at all, and her flowers be upon him, he shall be unclean seven days; and all the bed whereon he lieth shall be unclean. And if a woman have an issue of her blood many days out of the time of her separation, or if it run beyond the time of her separation; all the days of the issue of her uncleanness shall be as the days of her separation: she shall be unclean. Every bed whereon she lieth all the days of her issue shall be unto her as the bed of her separation: and whatsoever she sitteth upon shall be unclean, as the uncleanness of her separation. And whosoever toucheth those things shall be unclean, and shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even. But if she be cleansed of her issue, then she shall number to herself seven days, and after that she shall be clean. And on the eighth day she shall take unto her two turtles, or two young pigeons, and bring them unto the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for her before the LORD for the issue of her uncleanness.
Leviticus 20:18
And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
Ezekiel 18:5-6
But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right, and hath not ... come near to a menstruous woman.....
Perhaps when you stop being cleanly you can "smell" just like all the other religions you complain about. Perhaps they too know the Sin of the Tampon and the Lustfulness of the Period. Or you may just be smelling your own lovely aroma. STOP GETTING YOUR PERIOD!! You are unclean!
Or, just get some turtles and pigeons. That may save your sinning soul, but it is doubtful.
Ah Katrina!! LOL! That was hysterical!

huh? How do you figure that? If you're having your period and you use tampons instead of pads, isn't it just another means to an end. This is a really weird question.

Being male, I would not understand the dilemma. But one small observation: is bleeding all over yourself, your clothes, down your legs etc socially right? Not to mention the issue of hygiene.

Not unless you get off on it. That is an odd question. What do you think G/d prefers. Fornication, Masturbation, or having to sit all day with an "unclean" pad between your legs?

If you think using a tampon is like masturbation you need a lot more sex ed. information.

This Baptist site tends to agree with you. Apparently, there are other items with "angel wings" -- at least that is what my friend Janice taught her twin girls when they turned 13.
