Cats LOVE fresh fresh water. Does your tub leak or drip? My cat will ignore his water dish if there is a leaky faucet. A good way to give him this is to get one of those little cat drinking fountains. They have continuous running water. They may be pricey, not sure. Or, get one of those little desktop ornmental fountain things you can just plug in. Clean it often and keep it full of water or the motor will burn out. But I'll bet you anything he or she will love it. I'll try to put in a pic url for the drinking fountain. I hope it works. Good Luck

To train your cat to use the water bowl and not the tub, simply put pepper around the edges of the tub. The smell is enough to make the cat not want to drink there any more and have the water bowl as the only source of water. Your cat will soon realise that the water bowl is a much better source of water.

Some cats just enjoy drinking running water. Think about purchasing a water fountain made especially for cats to drink from. You'll have to refill the fountain but it may limit the number of times you have to turn the tap on.

If you want your cat to stop drinking out of the toilet you should
1)pick your cat up away from the tub
2)Pick up your cats water
3)show your cat where the water is
4)every time your cat drinks out of the tub tap it on the head
5)when your cat drinks out of the bowl give it a treat

cats will look for othe water sources if their water was left unclean for awhile. you shld chng their water at minimum 2 times a day,, it gets fuzzies, dust, hair, etc blown in it.

even if you chng the water regularly now, you'll need to train him to drink from the bowl again. i like the suggestion above, leave the water bowl in tub and chng it often,, then slowly move it where you want it to wind up every few days.

remember, fresh water in the bowl regularly will prevent wanting to drink fresh water elsewhere (=

I had the same problem, and I went to the pet store and spent $50 on a little pet fountain. It runs water up through a filter and it comes out in a stream...just like a sink facuet. My kitty love it. I jsut plug it in and go. The water pools in a bowl thingy and it moves, and she adores it.

My cat enjoys drinking running water as well, and I would suggest getting one of the 'cat fountains' where his water will recycle and give him that running water feeling. I added a link. I hope this helps you out.

Just don't be turning on the tub water. When she is thirsty enough, she will go to his water bowl.

Don't turn on the water for him. He'll learn soon enough that his water bowl is the only place to drink, if you'll stop enabling his bad behavior.

Oh baby blue......please be VERY careful. I had one cat that died from constantly drinking out of the toilet bowl (cleaning chemicals poisoned him).
Now I make sure the toilet seat cover is always down and the shower doors closed so none of my cats will ever go through that again. Hard lesson learned here!!!!!
