It costs a pretty penny but Bark Busters helped my dog stop jumping up on people who come in my door and stop biting my kids feet. Not only that they show you how to be the leader of the pack. What you do is let the dog know you are leader of the pack. They are very tired for the next week being relieved as leader of the pack. My dog is the bomb now I never knew a dog could be this good. No I am no way affiliated with Bark Busters. Peace out...............
Edit: No it is never okay to physically hit your dog. The respond better to a loud "bah" then a quick praise in a high voice "good girl or good boy".

how long have you had him? what type of dog is he? when does he bite and growl? if it is over the food he does not get till he is sitting and you can put it down while he stays in a sit. you need to find a dog trainer in your area right now. i hope you get the help you need.

Don't know if this will work for you...but my dog use to jump up on everyone. So I started carrying a very small spray bottle..and every time he did that to me, I would spray him in the face...it was filled with just plain water! And it worked!!
Good luck.

im not sure if it works, but scold him when he growls or in a sharp voice say "hey stop that!" im not sure if it works though. i do that to my dogs and their pretty old, i guess it works. however for biting, im not sure, if they bite dogs, keep them away from dogs, and if they bite humans you are friends with, get your friend to feed your dog a treat. they will then like the person for the treat. it works for me :)

Just spank him when he does it.Then soon he'll learn that when he bites and growls that he'll get spanked.

do you have a flyswatter? lightly but firmly smack him on the nose when he does this. The nose is very sensitive and it will sting some and tell him in a very firm voice bag dog-no bite until it sinks in.
