All dogs tend to have individual personalities.
If you had a beagle and it died then you got another one, chances are it may look similar to the one you lost but it won't have exactly the same behavior. It would have it's own personality.

Certain types of dogs have similar behaviors.

For example, dogs like Shetland Sheepdogs and Collies and Border Collies are herding dogs. They will have general similar behaviors between them

Hunting dogs, like hounds are the same way. They have a body (and nose!) geared towards doing what they were bred for.

Terriers are similar in the way that most of them have some sort of prey drive. Meaning there is an animal (prey) that they were bred to retrieve -- Rat Terrier bred to control rat population in barns. Pit Bull Terriers were bred for bull baiting.

Retrievers are just that. They bring stuff back. Some are water retrievers, they bring back water fowl --ducks, geese, etc.

Guarding dogs--like Rotties and German Shepherds were bred to protect either humans or livestock and generally have aggressive tendencies to them unless handled correctly.

Toy dogs/non sporting dogs were bred for companionship and dont have too much in common aside from size and general disposition towards humans.

Hope this is what you were looking for!

we have two great pyranees here at our ranch to take care of our livestock. since our area is infiltrated with cayotes specially that the snow has brought them down, these are the best dogs that keep our animals safe.

for the last 12,000 years, these dogs have been bred to be protectors of properties, livestock and people. they were used are guard dog in palaces. they are the sweetest dogs i have ever had, so gentle with the kids and rabbits yet fierce with any predators around.

they are sheep color as they were bred to blend in with the sheep...they are long haired large dogs, very beautiful and majestic!
