Biology textbooks in some districts in the United States had warning labels put on them, by creationists in recent history, saying, "Evolution is a theory, not a fact." Why not go a bit further?

How about putting similar warning labels to physics textbooks too?

Something like:
"This textbook contains material on gravity. Gravity is a theory, not a fact, regarding a force that cannot be directly seen. This material should be approached with an open mind, studied carefully, and critically considered."

Why not put similar warning labels on other textbooks as well?

I think we should put on the bible.

WARNING: this book contains descriptions of rape, murder, brutality, and genocide. It has and may again incite bigotry, discrimination, racism, hatred, and violence.

I've never heard of those warning labels before. It's pretty sad since if you actually read the damn books you see that they use the word 'theory' often. I suppose the warning label would be there for idiots who do not understand what the word 'theory' means in the first place. It's similar to the warning labels on cleaning products that tell you it's not a fruit flavored beverage. If anything, the creationists are only insulting themselves.

Evolution IS a fact, it's "change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift". It exists and has been proven to exist.
Creationists like to use the dictionary explanation of "theory", being "guess or conjecture" instead of the scientific meaning of the word, being "a coherent group of general propositions used as principles of explanation for a class of phenomena". In science a theory can never become a law, a law being "a statement of a relation or sequence of phenomena invariable under the same conditions".

P.S.: I propose a "All characters and supernatural entities included within this title are fictitious and any similarity with any existing people or supernatural entities is purely coincidental." label for the Bible.

How about warnings on History books?

"This textbook contains material that may or may not have been altered so that it will shed a positive light on our society as a whole and the acts perpetrated by those in power."

Because liberal man, Evolution is just a theory and never proven. Pick up your evolution book and hold it over the trashcan, now let go. Gravity works and quite properly in this instance.

I have looked at evolution and I consider it a miracle to happen the way they say it would.

Yet when creationist say the same thing about Intelligent Design they are ballyhooed as nonsense by liberals.

Liberals, hypocrisy is thy middle name.

That's not the same thing. I believe in evolution but it has not been proven as fact. There is nothing wrong with Creationists wanting children to be taught that this is only a theory.

Because evolution is a theory, and not a very well proven one. Gravity has been very well proven.

Seriously, I've looked and I haven't found any 'proof' on evolution that I have found convincing. A lot of really tantalizing theory, but not a lot of concrete proof. If you have some I'd like to know about it.

First off Gravity is Law...Newtons Law which means there are right they are scientific laws.....No we shouldn't...maybe we should put warning labels on the bible stating these are stories meant to help guide you through life...not actually facts to be taken for word

Maybe because evolution IS just a theory not a fact. It may conflict with some religious beliefs.

You could put labels on English books as well: "I before E except after C is only a theory and not proven to work in every situation. Use at your own risk."

The scientific method is in and of itself, a warning label, empirical data in, double blinds, peer review, replicate, etc.... science is always a work in progress as new information becomes available...

ERI forgot Misogyny, misanthropy, and fantastic unprovable claims....
