Yes, there are still monkeys. Unfortunately for your argument, evolution doesn't dictate that the old lines have to become extinct. As far as your questions goes; all we have to do is look at the similarities between existing and ancient life forms and see that they evolved from similar beings.

Chris

There are of course monkeys, crocodiles, aardvarks, birds, us. The real defining evidence for evolution is in the genomes of all living things, including us. I don't know where it all began, don't forget there is 9-10 billion years of history before the birth of our sun and solar system, but here on earth, evolution seems to have held sway.

Im on the fence about evolution, why do we have the structure of monkeys, the bare skin of pigs, the heart of sheep. I cant believe that we evolved from JUST monkeys and there is also to much of a gap between humans and apes. that isnt there with other animals/
but my big issue is that I just dont agree with that being the only thing being taught in schools, kids should be able to chose what they believe and not what the government wants them to believe.

Scientists are very open minded - it's the nature of the job. They don't put forward a proposal until it's been tested to destruction and proven to be correct.
On the other hand, those who beleive in creationism are very closed minded - they hear only what they want to hear, never question it and blindly accept what is told to them.
I think I'd rather go with those who are able to provide the physical proof.

Before you ask a question that clearly shows that you know absolutely nothing about evolution theory, read up on it. Even if you still decide not to believe in it, at least you won't be pitied or laughed at because of your ignorance.

LOL.
That's my favorite line from the idiots. "If evolution is true then why are there still monkeys". Meaning that they think we evolved from monkeys.
Of course that just shows their considerable ignorance.
We are primates, as are monkeys, chimps, apes and orangutans. We are all related.
But try telling that to the brain dead creationists out there...

Atheists need a somewhat plausible explanation of how they got here so they are forced to believe in evolution no matter how lousy the evidence or how much contradictory evidence appears.

I suppose that you're suggesting that it seems more logical and realistic that some "thing" in the sky used magical powers to create everything from thin air?...Personally, I feel both theories are a little far-fetched and wrong.
