This is a wedding dress. It can not be returned under any circumstances. I thought, accordng to the saleswoman it would work....

You might have to remove the sleeves or have the seamstress replace them. She may be able to cut larger armholes, then re-do new sleeves in a similar fabric- I can't see what is used, but it looks like lace. As for the zipper, usually a zip can only be let out an inch or so, possibly 2, depending on how wide the seam is.
You might want to meet with another seamstress sooner, rather than later in case there's a problem. Good luck :-(

No, it can't be let out. At least, not much at all.
If you were measured wrong (if your measurements as recorded in the book and verified by you do not match the designer's size chart), then the dress CAN be exchanged. It just might take some arguing.
But you need to be sure that you were measured wrong. Or at least that the salesperson told you that you should order a smaller size.
Do not wait a month, since there is a chance that you'll need to order a new dress.
ADDED: Remember, though, that the seamstress can do a lot of other things. Removing the sleeves, giving you new ones. A tight corset thingy might make the dress fit too.

The first thing I would do is try to find the error...
ask to see the sizing chart and get remeasured, there may have been an error with manufacturing. Or were the measurements off? Its also possible that you agreed to order the wrong size because you were put off by the idea of ordering 2 sizes bigger than you are used to.
Depending on whose fault it is, you may be able to get some sort of compensation for your losses.
Either way, yes you can get a dress let out

Only a skilled seamstress can let out a dress because they have to add a gusset and this can alter the appearance of the dress, sometimes for the worse. If everything fails, sell the dress on ebay and get another at jcrew.com or at whitehouseblackmarket.com. They're of good quality and are reasonably priced.

Is your appt with the seamstress at Alfred Angelo's ?
Take the dress back right away and check with the manager of the store to see how much the dress can be taken out or maybe they can reorder you another size? It is a beautiful dress!!!

IF a saleswoman measured you and ordered the dress, she should be responsible for it not fitting. Most dresses can be let out about an inch or two, but absolutely no more than that. Sometimes they can add in fabric but it would add a seam.

yikes ... did the sales girl order this dress for you or did you on your own??? if she made the mistake you should be able to return it ... but if you ordered it on your own i would call the customer service # and tell them that you need to exchange it for a bigger size that you did the measurements right but this doesn't fit ...
It's a very pretty dress ... maybe you can also try and sell it on ebay or through consignment before the wedding ... and get as much $$ as you can for it.
a seamstress won't be able to let it out ... there is not enough material in his dresses.

link doesn't work. However, it is amazing what a great seamstress can do - make sure you have one who is experienced with wedding gowns. Usually bridal shops have seamstresses. I needed alterations done - for a similar kind of thing with the sleeves - and she put in an insert under each of the arms. Couldn't even tell anything was done - it was amazing and surprizingly inexpensive.

either have the arms removed or have the seamtress cut the arms and attach lace or a silk rope down the arms making it open more, the back can be fixed easily with the zipper to be removed than attaching rope slick or lace down the back so it will be a open back but strung up. It will look nice, but not excatly the way you pictured it, just tell the seamtress what you want and the problem, they will fix it and give you ideas,
