I absolutely love the feel and atmosphere of a tattoo parlor. I plan on going to cosmetology school, try to make it as a writer, do a bunch of other things, but I really would like the tattoo/peirced world to be part of my own. I don't have the talent to be an artist, and wouldn't want to be a peircer, so do parlors ever hire just like a reseptionist kind of person? What other jobs in that field might there be? Thanks!

there are instances when tattoo shops hire people that don't do anything in the trade. do you have tattoos? i have talked to my tattoo artist before about one day when he opens his own shop (in a few years) and how i would love to be his part time receptionist. i have a great full time job that i love but i'd love to be there to see all of the great tattoos that come out of the shop. he said he would totally let me be his receptionist but that i'd have to get atleast a half sleeve. i'm game. we'll see what happens.

They hire receptionists, and people to keep the shop clean. They may have more positions but I haven't heard of any... just start asking the artists and owners. every shop is different. good luck.

Maybe you could start a "street team" for them to help spread the word about the shop. I don't know if they would pay for this, but it would put you around the artists and also they would like you cuz you were increasing their business.

If you handed out coupons, and people used them, you might get paid a "finders fee" for each one.

like someone said it depends on the place. we have a film crew on call from the locla university, a promotion team, we dont have a receptionist but a few people who hang around and answer the phones. various people that help with the running of the shop. ask if they need anything specific, t shirt printers sign writers, anything you have access or are skilled at.

If they need a secretary or assistant to help around the shop- yes. Some shops don't need them, but many do. Just ask the shop :)
