Rocky Marciano was a World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and the only pro boxer never to be beater or tied. Rocky Balboa is not a real fighter, he is a character in the Rocky movie series portrayed by Sylvester Stallone.

Much as I don't really care for ANY reference between the Rocky movies and real boxing, this question is fun. I rule out Holyfield and Saad Muhammad automatically because they're built different and threw straight punches in ways that Balboa rarely did. His style seemed to change a bit with each fight/movie. I would say that Balboa's style resembled Frazier's. The difference is that Frazier's punches were never as telegraphed as were Balboa's. Frazier was also a bit more of a pressure fighter. Oddly enough, Balboa doesn't really resemble the fighter for which he's named. While Marciano often rolled under the punches of taller opponents, Balboa caught nearly every punch on his chin. To be honest, the two fighters I think of are George Chuvalo and Randall "Tex" Cobb. Both took it on the chin, the way Rocky did, and kept throwing punches.

Rocky Marciano is arguably the greatest heavyweight boxer in history. I've said this before on here, and ill say it again... HES OVER RATED. He's not even in my top 10. But ay, we gotta give credit where credit is due, he retired 49-0-0 and beat joe louis.
Rocky Balboa is a fictional movie character and like someone else said, rocky 1 was compared to chuck wepner who went 15 rounds with Ali but was knocked out in the final 20 seconds.

Rocky Marciano was the greatest heavyweight Champion EVER..His record speaks for itself (49-0-43 ko's) He never turned down a fight, was only knocked down twice in career, threw the hardest punch EVER & could knock you out with a right or a left...They did a computer challenge with Ali & Marciano, Marciano won by a 13th round ko.............Rocky Balboa only lasted for 1 fight (11-07-1981) as a welterweight, record= 0-1-0...His loss was to Robert Hines in Las Vegas NV..he was from Philadelphia PA..For more info on these two or any other boxer's go to boxrec.com...........................

Rocky Marciano was undefeated son!
As for Balboa, he wasn't per se "real", but he is based off of real-life boxer Chuck Wepner who nearly went the distance with Muhammad Ali. Rocky I was based off of Wepner's story, and everything after that was fictional.
