What i'd like to know is, how should I handle the skin before having it put on? Do I shave the day of or will that make the skin too sensitive? Also how long after getting it do I dare shave that spot again?

I'd shave it. theyre gonna do it anyway so might as well save them the trouble. I wouldnt shave that spot again until its completely healed. Done flaking, not bumpy anymore, completey smooth to the touch. I tried to shave over my ankle tattoo before it was healed and it didnt go to well.

I shaved the day of my tatt. I did not use any lotions or creams afterwords though. The artist will prep your skin for the stencil and the ink. As for shaving after wards, I waited until I had no more peeling, scabbing at all. For me, that was about 3 weeks. I then was careful and used a light touch. Make sure you use a fresh razor and use a good quality razor such as Intuition or Venus. I got the closest, most gentle shaves from them. Hope you love your new tatt. And don't worry..you won't shave it off.. I was terrified the first time..hahahahahahaha

The artist will shave it for you. As for preparing the skin he (or she) will take care of that for you as well. I assume that you should hold off from shaving the area until the tat is completely healed. But I'm sure that one of the fine tattooed ladies on here can answer that better for you.

the tattoo artist will shave the area if it needs to be shaved. and you shouldn't shave until the skin is completely healed which is about two weeks or so.

you should shave it right before you go to the tattoo shop. like everyone said, they'll shave it if you don't. however, they have the '10 for a buck' bic razors that suck. once the area has finished peeling and is completely smooth, you can shave again... this should take about 2 weeks.

you can shave yourself or the artist can do it for you (which they probably will whether you shave it or not). when your tattoo is finish, wait a month before shaving that area again. yes, you'll be tempted because it will be quite furry by the time a month has passed but leave it alone.

they will shave you even if your leg is freshly shaven.
i have one on my ankle and i waited for about a month or more and then i was really careful and still am because even a nic
can mess your tattoo up long after it heals.
i also use sunscreen on all of my tats, i think it prolongs
the colors and i don't have to worry about sunburn and
peeling.

the tattoo artist will prepare the skin. you don't have to do anything. they will also tell you how to care for the tat.. antibacterial soap and antibacterial ointment is what they will say. good luck.
