And when I mean evidence, I mean actual, empirical evidence. Not random quotes from an outdated book of bronze-age jewish mythology. Saying things like "I heard of a guy who weighed dead people...ect" because that's not evidence, that's hearsay.
ACTUAL evidence that supports your claim that something called a soul actually exists.

Patrone you moron,
The ONLY one of those that speaks of jesus is Josephus, and that was 200 years after his supposed death!
Not to mention the fact that the single sentence in a single paragraph where he's mentioned has already been proven to be a forgery done in the 11th century.
As for the rest, go ahead and try to find the references, trust me, you can't.

I cannot imagine being so incredibly stupid as to say that if I can't see my reflection in a mirror, then I have no soul...

There are some interesting differences in Christianity than any other religion. For instance, the existence of Jesus of Nazareth is a well documented fact, in fact there's more documentation about Jesus and his life that there is any other person or piece of literature ever written. Christianity is also the only religion where God served and suffered at the hands of his mortal subjects. Jesus didn't just suffer an execution, he suffered quite probably the most horrific form of execution ever dreamed up by humanity (yes worse than the medieval torture devices) Christianity as made a verifiable claim of a miracle with the resurrection of Christ. The tomb was under gard by Soldiers, it was a brand new tomb, yet the tomb was empty and the Soldiers did not witness anyone breaking into it. There's also evidence that happened with the change in the Apostles. The Apostles were cowardly and insecure while Jesus was teaching them on earth. During Jesus' persecution they ran, cried, rebukes, denied and hid from Jesus. Peter was unable to acknowledge that he even knew Jesus to a little girl. After Jesus' death, the Apostles were lost and afraid and didn't know what to do. Jesus appeared to them and bestowed upon them the Holy Spirit and we see a complete and total transformation of person in each of them. They all became strong and bold leaders who willingly gave up all personal possessions and died just so they could spread the word and teachings of Jesus. You should also reconsider your stance of not accepting the bible. Keep in mind that is just a brief overview of some of the proofs, but it's impossible to adequately list them in this format. Look up and study Christian Apologetics if you wish to find the full answers and explanations for this question. These questions have been asked for thousands of years, people have tried to disprove the bible and demanded evidence. If there was none, do you think Christianity would be around, let alone as strong as it is? Check it out if you're insterested, I think you might be suprised at what you find. If you're not interested, then why don't you set out with an honest and scholarly quest to disprove it, you could be the first.

Because we all have what is called a sixth sense. Also, matter never dies it just changes forms.
Well, since I've already proven the Bible as the valid Word of God, everything else falls into place automatically from Creation to Revelation and Jesus Christ being the Saviour of our souls.
I know exactly when and where that my soul was washed clean from sins and set free from guilt and shame. Yes, that's good enough for me that my sins which were as scarlet are washed white as snow. I also know I felt the marvelous presense of God when a dear saint passed on and the angels came to carry her soul back to God. That was a first time experience which made heaven more real to me than ever before even though I always believed. Because the fragrance of a soul lingers on after they have departed this life and shucked off their temporary bodies to begin their real life. Death is just a birthing canal into the eternity that awaits every soul.
P.S. I am positive you couldn't be fool-hardy enough to try and describe the Bible in that third sentence!

You wouldn't change your mind, anyway! Someone who words their question as you did is obviously NOT looking for truth. You know that it's not something that can be put on a platter and presented any more than the WIND can BE. Signs of a soul can only be indicated within an individual; and if you haven't had any indication of having a soul; well, I don't know what to tell you!

EDIT:

I didn't figure you would be open minded to anyone's answers. Guess I was right.

Jehovah's Witnesses are Christians who fully understand that the bible does *NOT* teach of some immortal soul. So what does the bible teach about "the soul"?

A "soul" is a life, with no implication regarding some immortal otherwordly entity. Each deceased life is in Jehovah God's remembrance (with the potential for future resurrection), but the dead do not exist anywhere but memories until and unless the life is resurrected.

(Ezekiel 18:4) The soul that is sinning - it itself will die.

(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all

(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]

(Genesis 2:17) But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”

(Genesis 17:14) And an uncircumcised male who will not get the flesh of his foreskin circumcised, even that soul must be cut off from his people. He has broken my covenant.”

(Judges 16:30) And Samson proceeded to say: “Let my soul die with the Philistines.” Then he bent himself with power, and the house went falling upon the axis lords and upon all the people that were in it, so that the dead that he put to death in his own death came to be more than those he had put to death during his lifetime.

(Job 33:22) And his soul draws near to the pit, And his life to those inflicting death.

(Psalm 78:50) He did not hold back their soul from death itself; And their life he handed over even to the pestilence.

(Isaiah 53:12) he poured out his soul to the very death

(Acts 3:23) Indeed, any soul that does not listen to that Prophet will be completely destroyed from among the people.’

(Revelation 16:3) And the second one poured out his bowl into the sea. And it became blood as of a dead man, and every living soul died, yes, the things in the sea.

Take away the soul and take away the life. When God made man He breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul. You always seek proof. No proof shall be given unto you. To seek proof from God's eyes is to sin and displease God very much. You will not recieve any thing If you seek proof. God desires FAITH. Nothing but FAITH will He accept. Too Bad.

I'm assuming your talking about our spirits. Um, I don't think there is full on scientific proof yet, but I think some day there will be. That's a very unexplored sector of science, and I'm willing to give it more time.

I can think of one distinct evidence thought - that's genetically identical twin babies being born with very distinct personalities. That has to come from somewhere.

This one is easy my friend, but first you have to know the definition of the word Soul: It is the animating and vital principle in humans, credited with the faculties of thought, action, and emotion. So would you now not agree with me that the Soul is your mind? Of course you would.

2007-01-23 12:11:30 · answer #8 · answered by Heaven's Messenger 6 · 0 1

Well, biblically the soul is the body and the breath. You as you exist now. It states that God breathed into man the breath of life and man became a living soul.

That's why they call it "faith," skippy. It's not something that you can "prove" the existence of using the jaded viewpoint and demand for solid evidence so often demanded by today's "enlightened" society.

You either believe it and have faith in it, or you don't.

Your choice.

EDIT: Well, 12 hours later it's clear by your responses that you're not interested in the opinions of others who disagree with you; you're only fishing for someone to second your opinion, someone you can agree with. And when you don't get them, you go on a rampage and start insulting people....which could get you reported.

Which did, by the way.

Have a nice day.

Soul is the human body that you look at in the mirror, if you see yourself there is your proof. if you want proof of having a immortal spirit than ask another question and learn what it is you really want!
