I'd say have it done...but it is loud so call the facility and be sure you can wear earplugs or listen to music on headphones. It's totally painless! Music worked for me and helped it go quicker. Please ask your doctor a few days before for xanax, valium or some other benzo to be taken about an hour before the procedure. Tell them you're nervous and they will give you a prescription for a couple of pills. Also, bring in your husband or boyfriend or friend to stay in the room with you. Close your eyes during the test or have them cover your eyes with a cloth.

Hope this helps.

Follow your drs advice unless you feel it is wrong and then you should get a second opinion. Request to go to an imaging facility that has open MRI and take calming music with you. Talk to a counselor first who can show you some relaxation exercises. Good luck. I'm sure this is a scary experience.

MRI is painless. If you have some anxiety about the test due to claustrophobia, ask you doctor for a sedative or try to find an open MRI.

i would try to relaxe ur self b4 u go, think of calming things. i had one and the whole time i was in there, for like 20 mins, i wasnt thinking of anything, and to tell the truth, i almost fell asleep. there a couple of noises in the MRI, but u get used to them. try not to think of what bad things will come out of it, but the fact that ur doctor will tell u its nothing serious and perscribes u a headache med.

MRI's don't hurt at all, but if are claustrophobic that could be a problem. Try taking a Xantac.
