when the most popular religious work includes ultra-violent passages. How is it justifiable? :
Deut. 20:10-17- When you march up to attack a city, make its people an offer of peace. If they accept and open their gates, all the people in it shall be subject to forced labor and shall work for you. If they refuse to make peace and they engage you in battle, lay siege to that city. When the Lord your God delivers it into your hand, put to the sword all the men in it. As for the women, the children, the livestock and everything else in the city, you may take these as plunder for yourselves. . . . This is how you are to treat all the cities that are at a distance from you and do not belong to the nations nearby. However, in the cities of the nations the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes. Completely destroy them—the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites—as the Lord your God has commanded you.

No, Desiree. I am trying to make a point that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Imogene- I reckon you should find out more about the Christian factions in Africa and Asia.
Asmodeous- Please. All conflicts are not Muslim.
I am asking why it is justifiable for one violent religion to judge another.

Fatima- Sounds like you're the one "condemning the Jews". I didn't know the bad passages from the New Testament were all attributable to the Jews! Silly me!
As I am being attacked by a few, may I say my heritage is Jewish? I am certainly not "bashing" anyone. I am simply stating a fact - violence is rampant throughout religion. Nowhere did I say one is worse than the other.
Realitythumper -It seems you have found out much the same about all religions, much like myself. Why just choose one today?

I agree with your point, however, the most popular religious work may not be the Bible for long. With Islam the worlds fastest growing religion, Muslims could become the majority darn quick. In fact, it may have already. Just sort of an fyi.
But, you are right. Taking children as "plunder" or killing a mans children because Dad is a nonbeliever is really rather gruesome. The whole "sins of the father" thing...

Let's see now, which Muslim are we talking about. Maybe the one from Australia that was teaching children to strap bombs to themselves to murder others. The one calling all Muslims around the world to do this. Maybe the ones in Canada that was going to blow up a bunch of innocent people. Maybe the ones in Britain that killed a bunch in the subway bombing. Maybe the ones that was caught in the USA that was going to blow up more places and kill more innocents. Maybe the ones that threatened Russia not so long ago. Maybe the ones that were found in China with their mixtures. The Qur'an specifically tells all Muslims around the world they are to convert everyone to Muslim. First they are to levy a tax, if that doesn't work, they are to chop off fingers, if that doesn't work they are to separate their head from the body at the neck. One more thing, Christians do not do what you just said, Jesus Christ, Christ= Christians, was not on this earth as the sacrificial lamb. You are talking many years before Christ, I am talking recent. This is why you are having your problem Stop the terrorists and all will be rosy. I knew nothing of Muslims until 9/11, I wish it would have stayed that way. Now I know more about the religion and culture than I ever cared to know. I even know about the black meteroite people would kill to protect, a rock. Why a rock? Please explain in another answer. It is located at Mecca, in case you didn't know, inside one of the pillars.

I don't torment muslims. I don't really know any. If I did, and their story is half as rediculous as the Christians story, I would start.
How come the Polish have been quiet all these years while we have been telling Polish jokes around the water cooler and in the broom closet...
Don't be so touchy you religious types. Take an example from the Poles.
PS I have never met a dumb Pole, but once I fell in a dump hole.

Deut. 18:15 Moses continue "The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. For this is what you yourselves requested of the Lord your God when you were assembled at Mt. Sinai. I will raise up a prophet like you from among your fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth and he will tell the people everything I command him." God was referring to the Israelites here in the book of Deut. Muslims have never won a war over the Israelites even when they had a small and insignificant army, less in number and strength. In 1948, 1967, and 1973 the Israelites fought the Arabs and won victoriously.

So now you are tormenting Christians and Jews?
So you see, don't get mad at folks when they quote the seemingly evil quotes from the Quran.
Every religious sect is open to criticism by others because of their ancient writings.
The difference between Christians and Muslims is that some Muslims will use the Quran as a guide to commit atrocities; Christians will recognize Deut. 20:10-17 as ancient Jewish traditional writings ...nothing more.

I don't know why, perhaps because at the moment they are practicing a religion that is sanctioning, for all intents and purposes (or at least sympathizing with) terrorism..
But just for the record, I am an equal opportunity superstition basher...
