Here's this guy that claims to be the son of god, and his followers claim he can walk on water, and turn water into wine....seems kinda fishy to me. You have Manson, Caresh, Jones, Muhammad, and last but no least, Jesus........and all of their lemmings.....

Charles Manson, David Koresh, and Jimmie Jones didn't save people, accept them, heal them and at their final hour utter the words "Father, forgive them. For they know not what they do."

In fact, Jesus was the epitome of a selflessness and sacrifice.

There is no record that indicates he caused the death of many, carried weapons, had sex with multiple women (some underage others married), kept prisoners - unlike Koresh or Jones. You need to get your facts straight.

Muhammad never claimed to be God, but a prophet. I won't insult someone else's beliefs so I will leave Muhammad out of this post.

Your comparison between Jesus and all the other followers is not an informed one.

You would sound more logical if you said you just don't believe and that would at least be a logical opinion. When you compare Jesus to evil and violent men, you sound ridiculous.

These men preached, but didn't PRACTICE peace and love. They warped the words of scripture in order to indulge and be idolized. This goes against everything Jesus preached and practiced.

Perhaps the most convincing thing about Jesus is that he was illuminated up to the last hour. It would be no regular man that would be able to allow himself to die. He could have saved himself and said "hey, you are right. I am not the son of God". After all, that is all everyone wanted to hear; that way they wouldn't be frightened if they could convince themselves of this fact.

If you want to argue that he was indeed a good man but was still a crazy person. I would say that at least you aren't entirely contradicting the historical facts that Jesus was a peaceful person. This is accepted by even atheist historians. There is no record that Jesus harmed the masses.

I don't believe he was a convincing man. I believe that only the son of God could have accomplished what he did, could have started a revolution of the faithful for peace (and without weapons), and only Christ could endure that level of torture and still concern himself with those that are torturing him in the most unbearable manner.

One more thing, Christ warned his disciples that there would be individuals who would claim to be followers and they would be wolves in sheep's clothing. He said we would know them by their actions and not their words.

To answer your question...NO...I don't think Jesus was JUST another cult leader.

Peace

The turn the water into wine is an old parlour trick preformed at weddings and ceremonies in ancient Egypt. This trick has been handed down for millium. All cults and cult leaders used parlour tricks to get people amazed, entranced and confused just enough to follow them. Jesus was no different except he had better writers.

Personally, I think he was going down the same route Muhammad was. He was dependant on the mercy of non-believers so most of what he taught was peaceful. However, Jesus was killed pretty soon. Muhammad on the other hand survived and power corrupted him. He raided caravans, permitted sex slaves and massacred thousands on people to spread Islam once he had enough political power. Religion derives from the dreams of sick men.

yes. Which is more likely:
Jesus was the son of God?
(or) Jesus was just a man who claimed to be the son of God?

(Keep in mind that there have been literally HUNDREDS of people in the last 100 years that have claimed to be the son of God, but have been proven to simply be delusional.)

"I know men, and I tell you that Jesus Christ is not a man. Superficial minds see a resemblance between Christ and the founders of empires and the gods of other religions. That resemblance does not exist. There is between Christianity and whatever other religions the distance of infinity..." - Napoleon Bonaparte

Isn't it interesting how a dead cult leader can totally transform my life, changing me from a liar into a truthful person, from a thief to an honest person, from a foul-mouthed blasphemer to a reverent worshiper of God and from a totally self centered egomaniac to a kind, generous considerate person?
Oh, and did I mention He has freed me from fear and given me continuous, deep settled peace within and an undying hope of future well being?
Oh, and did I mention that He has done that for millions of others?
Funny how a dead guy could do that. But then, Jesus Christ isn't dead anymore.

I do not think he meant to be. But, Paul sure did a good job at developing the cult. It was his stage---his chance to be the actor, the one being noticed. This man was crazy. But, he was very good at what he did.

well actually Christianity did start out as a cult. A lot of religions start out that way. Even Buddhism.
