better redo your math on powerball. You are not even close with your under 1 in 20 billion
the math
(55 choose 5) x (42 Choose 1) =146,107,962
I bet you calculated that it's 1 chance in 17,532,955,440
with lotteries, order is not a factor so the use of permutations is incorrect

Your chances of winning the lottery (as in the Powerball) are less than 1 in 20,000,000,000 (I have done the math on this). President Bush has a 1 in 2,000 chance of winning the Nobel Peace Prize. You have a 1 in 60,000,000 chance of dying via falling coconut hitting your head. Putting this into perspective, you will find that it would be wiser to invest you money in .com stocks (LOL) than puchase lottery tickets. There is a reason that the lottery is called the tax for people who cannot do math.

Because like 2.3 bazillion people enter the lottery. Your chances of winning are 1 in 2.3 bazillion million. So why do people even gamble in the first place.

Well somebody has to keep kicking in the money that the people with good luck collect when they win. Since the odds are million to 1 against your winning you are the designated loser if you keep buying.
Oh and don't tell me about that obe lucky guy who won millions when he was down to his last nickel in the trailer park. All of his unlucky neighbors still have nothing won.

it's not that you can't, it's just the odds of winning are so low that it's unlikely for any one person to win, but some always does cause there has to be a winner.
