My daughter wants to listen to a Gospel Artist named Young Dirty on www.youngdirty.net. She tells me that he is a positive artist. I am not sure because of his name. Am I being to judgemental?

Yes, and you're being a little simple minded as well. Why not listen to one of his songs and then judge?

If you have not been to the website you have or if you have not listened to his music then I would say that you are being very judgmental. Never judge a book by its cover. I am pretty sure that the name he uses it to get the attention of the youth today so they can hear his music.

I would check out this artists lyrics before letting your daughter listen to him. I wish more parents were as concerned as you are about the entertainment their children watch and listen to.
Go with your daughter to your local Christian bookstore. Let her tell the store clerk what style music she likes. The clerk will be able to point out Christian artists that are that style music. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things" (Philippians 4:8)

Why don't you listen to it first before she's allowed to? Then you can make sure that "young dirty" is a positive influence.

See if you can find a website that list his lyrics, like they do for Tbone's lyrics (Christine rap singer) I thought I heard Mr. T bone say the "N" word in one of his songs, so i went to the website and found out I was mistaken, praise God, or you can listen to the lyrics, sometimes they sing those rap songs so fast you can't understand what they are saying, so if your daughter can direct youto the lyric sheet, so you can see what he is saying and if it is prasiing God, hey, its ok.

I checked out www.youngdirty.net. I think that he has chosen this name to appeal to the youth. I like his songs. They are fun and family friendly. Never judge a book by it's cover. If you are only concerned about his name let it go Mom. Can You Preach to that!!!!!

I've never seen this guy before. He isn't on itunes either, but I went on the website and it doesn't look so bad. He doesn't look like Akonor something that have explicite songs
