My sister is a speech therapist and knows how to help people that stutter. She says that you really have to slow down and relax before you speak. Take a couple of deep breaths and try to think about what you want to say before you speak. Most people start when they're 3-4 years old. If you didn't start till your 14 then you have a great chance of overcoming it.

Ok, dear... I used to stutter too, and it was right around that age. And I KNOW for a fact how angry that can drive someone. It seems really strange, because you have the words on your head, you are perfectly aware of what you want to say, but the mouth just doesn't follow. I got rid of it myself just by controlling my anxiety for not being able to speak. Interesting enough, I decided to do so because I wanted to become a radio DJ, and that would obviously be impossible to be if I stuttered.
Learn how to breathe correctly before attempting to speak, I found that that helps too. For me, stuttering just went away in a year or less.
Note: I never became a DJ, but have no speech problems whatsoever, even when speaking in public. If you need to talk more about this with me, please feel free to do so. And I suggest you see a speech specialist. Cheers!

I know that this sounds stupid but there are certain medications that make you do that.
Have you started to take any new perscriptions lately?
James Earl JONES ('this is CNN' and the infamous darth vader) used to studder.
Read up on him on line and you can find out what worked for him and it might work for you too.

try reading out load to yourself concentrating on your words, speaking slowly.........try some tongue twisters, again speaking slowly and concentrating on your words..........alot of people go through a period of time in their lives where they have some issues speaking correctly. practice and hopefully it will improve, if not you may need speech therapy.
