The question is referring more to the company selling its stocks publicly. The last I heard it that the company was family owned an private.

person above who gave the link to wikipedia might want to check it out. Bacardi the comany is the largest privately owned, family owned spirit producer in the world. privately owned means not publicly trade on the new york stock exchange. It is technically a family run business. In August 2006 there was an article that said the company was mulling going public.

Ok, Bacardi has been around since 1862 when it was founded and people have been drinking it ever since so I'm not sure what you mean. It has been public for many, many, many years.
