Christmas and religious holidays have all become nothing more than money makers for stores and greeting card companies. So that's bad enough....now they expanded it all to Easter and Valentines Day....and it causes lonely people a side effect that no one really INTENDED it to cause. Depression------that is to say, millions feel the way you do---even susceptible school children who don't get a card from classmates like the others do suffer an undue anxiety and low esteem feeling. I repeat--millions of people suffer through this...you aren't alone on this. So ignore the feeling and walk tall like every other day--don't fall under the spell of the big companies. If I knew where you were I would send you what you wish for---just because I can identify with the feelings--I go through the same. HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

First and foremost define what YOU WANT. What does VD mean to YOU? All the general assumptions are that you are a hetero woman with normal drives. If your looking for a nice dinner at a fancy place, find someone to go with you (male or female). If you want some closeness, you may have to look a little harder. If you just want a sexual encounter, find a bar three days in advance and "hook-up". Invite them over for that special night. If you want a life touching experience you could volunteer at a childrens hospital or old folks home. You MIGHT develop a LONG TERM attachment there, beware. Maybe you'd like a day spa treatment for yourself. This will be my first VD without my family in 21 years. My oldest son died in April of cancer and the stress just tore the family apart. I, most likely, will just sit at home and read emails and answer questions. I will miss my family, but other than that the day is just another day. I miss my childern each and every day I don't see them. The point is, make it what YOU want it to be, not what someone else pushes upon you for THEIR profit.

The best thing to do is probably the opposite of what you may be thinking. What you are doing is not working: feeling sorry and blue. Instead reach out to make someone else's day.
Volunteer your time to help someone who really has problems. Old folks, street feeds, church outreaches, missions, hospitals, rehab places, all need volunteers. Make someone smile, and you will forget about your missing valentine.
Chances are, if you keep this up you will get more than one teddy bear from places totally unexpected.

Solution 1 - Save your cash for the next couple of weeks and pamper yourself on Valentine's Day. Take yourself out to dinner, buy yourself a new pair of shoes, go to a day spa, etc, etc.
Solution 2 - Give out small gifts to all your friends. Appreciate the people you do have even if none of them is madly in love with you.
Solution 3 - Saint Valentine was a good Christian, do something generous with a Christian perspective. Read stories to a Sunday school class.

You're not alone. I am getting a divorce... and I left him in May. So yeah I am lonley a little. But I have a lot of friends here in this new state I moved to... and even online friends are nice. If you can spend it with someone else who is single and female and give eachother chocolate and watch movies you will have lots of fun!! LOL Or you can always get that single guy and tell him you are wanting to have a valentines night with chocolate as friends and thats a great way to have fun even if you arent interested in being with him as a boyfriend. :) You can stop being lonely be making sure that you are not alone that night. Also... BUY that teddy bear!! Its from me!! I promise go on and buy one and say that it is from all the women out here that are feeling like you this year... and it carries all the wishes for love that you can dream of. :) go on... go on out the door... LOL go buy it! You have your life in your hands.. if there is something you want go and get it. :) Love takes time and you never want to hope and dream and wish yourself into a place where you find out you arent with the person you dreamt of but you are with someone you settled for because you were kinda lonley one time... wink. Just be patient. You will find your love one day. But in the meantime its chocolate night!!!

Be happy and maybe give out Valentines at work. Also, what I do sometimes is since I have a cat I buy myself the chocolates and teddy bear and then I buy a card and say it's from my cat. It always makes me feel better.

Good luck in finding the real answer. I wish it was truly possible to solve this situation that easily. If you find the true answer, I would appreciate you letting me know the answer.
I did view your question and I am sorry for the pain you fell. I wish there was a magic formula that would make the pain go away but only time will heal. I sadly speak from experience. It took me years to get over my ex whom I was with for over 12 years.
All I can say is good luck and GOD bless you. Don't do anything silly and just try to live one day at a time.
If you ever want to chat, I would listen. If not me, there are a variety of different entities you can get help from.
Good luck, Mike

Instead of wishing someone could buy you a teddy bear, go and buy someone a teddy bear that is in the same boat you are. It will make you feel good and make another person happy.

Instead of a teddy bear and daisies, schedule a spa treatment for yourself. Take the day off and have a delightful massage, facial, manicure/pedicure, body wrap . . . the whole shebang if you can afford it. What the heck! It's your body and personal well-being. Go for it. Who else will take such good care of yourself but you? I guarantee you'll end the day with a pampered glow and will leave people wondering who gave you that glow.

Do something great for your self on Valentines. Treat yourself to some well deserved time at the day spa....or somewhere you think is relaxing. A nice warm bubble bath...etc Be good to your self. If you just can't stand any of those things, go hang out with some single friends and go have fun.....Its really only one day . You deserve the best! So go and get it!
