I have naturally red hair, but its dyed reddish brown. I want to know how to bleach my hair at home..i want like a medium blonde color. will it cause alot of damage to my hair? (i dyed it like 4 months ago). I'd prefer to go to a salon, but i cant afford to..so i need advice on how to do this at home.

Oh.... I wouldnt bleach it. Red hair is very hard to get true blond without destroying it. (salon or not) Besides all over blond is even harder on all color hair. Highlights only ruin strans of hair. I dont know how to do this successfully at home. I dont think I would try. Maybe just do a color again with a good conditioner?

Man, everyones just saying "it'll ruin your hair!" I bleach mine every 2 or so months so the purple I put in my hair stays, and my hair is soft as a baby butt. If you condition your hair and only bleach as needed then your hair will be fine! Put the bleach at the bottom of the hair first, and work up, but leave about an inch of roots. When it's half way processed (if it says leave on for an hour then put it on after 30 minutes) put the rest on the roots. Many people make the mistake of putting it all over and processing it the same amount of time. The reason roots bleach faster is because of your body heat. Good luck- oh, and proof that my hair isn't fried and brittle: http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/146/lf4256f91014a15642d82552mu.jpg

Bleaching hair is something even professionals sometimes screw up. Don't do it at home. If you can't afford to get it done at a salon, locate a beauty school and go there.

Bleach badly damages your hair, its got alot of chemicals etc in it and it ruins your hair making it all icky and dry and split but bella its up to you whether ya wanna colour your hair with bleach n all.
I would recommend buying a bleach streaking kit thingo, I've seen them selling at chemists etc. They dont call it bleach there but it is the real thing. Frosting kits or something I think they're called.

Goodluck
