I just got a new band added to my braces that is actually pulling a tooth up and he hurts so badly...I have had this done before..3 times before actually and the tooth is almost in place but it hurts so badly a lot more then it ever did even when I had them first put on...nothing is working...I've tried numbing it, Tylenol and Motrin, orajel and the only thing that works is pushing backwards with my finger to get temporary relief, then it hurt even more when I let go. the last time I had this the pain only lasted 2 or 3 days. this one still hurts 2 weeks later...does anyone know anything else I can try?

Taking the Motrin or Advil is good to help with the pain from the inflamation, so I'm glad you are taking that and continue to do so every 4-6 hours as directed for the mg that you are taking. Now, to help ease your pain try eating some ice cream, smoothies anything cold and just let it numb your mouth. Do a little at a time so you don't fill up and wish you could eat some more to ease the pain. Try to avoid anything that you have to chew for long. Just go back to the soft foods for a couple of days. Also, don't push on the tooth or play with it with your tongue or anything. The tooth is being moved in one direction and your pushing it back is only keeping it sore. It needs to find it's space where it's being pulled to and settle in there. Try the cold, it helps most everyone, and keep taking the Motrin. It works better for this type of pain than the tylenol does. Try these two things and see if you get any relief over the next two days. I know you said it's been two weeks, and I hate that for you too. But I think if you do the Motrin and ice cream, smoothies and cold popcicles, anything that's cold, and not push on the tooth, you will notice some relief. Now after 2 days, if it's still hurting as bad or worse, then call your Orthodontist and let them know, they may need to step down on the arch wire attachment to reduce the pulling some. Good luck sweetie, give this a try, it's what I tell all the ortho kids and it always works for them. Let me know how your doing, I'll be thinking of you. Good luck!

Try Vicks Chloraseptic Spray, it numbs your gums, so you wont feel anything...it tastes gross but ya know, you gotta make a sacrifice

Call the dentist and tell them what is going on. the pain should be lessened by now.

Ouch.Ya go see your ortho. So they can check and make sure everything is still alright. And if so,he might be able to give you a prescription for a better pain reliever.
Hope it gets better. :(

You should probably go and see your orthodontist to confirm that this isn't a serious problem.
