A shirley temple is grenadine, a splash of gingerale. NOT 7-up. You can buy grenadine almost anywhere that you buy alcohol including the grocery store. Its probably by the Margarita Mix. It's non alcoholic pommegranite syrup. A Shirley Temple is a drink invented for the star, because she was too young to drink. I think in one movie, she is sat at a table and when the grown-ups order drinks she smiles and says "I'll have some gingerale, please. With a splash of grenadine."

Grenadine (grenadine syrup) is a blood-red, strong syrup made from pomegranates. It is the number one among fruit syrups, and is used in many cocktails not only for sweetening, but also to give them a red color.
Grenadine syrup for use in a bar is usually bought on bottles, but you can also make your own:
Use 4 pomegranates to make about 2 cups of pomegranate syrup. After removing seeds, process with food processor knife blade. Simmer pulp with 1/4 cup honey over low heat 3 minutes. Stir well. Strain to remove seeds

The name "grenadine" comes from the French word grenade for pomegranate, as grenadine was originally prepared from pomegranate juice and sugar. It is readily available at most grocers in the liquor isle by the other mixers like tonic water and margarita mix.

traditionally concentrated pomegranite juice, but today a mix of stuff. Very sweet. Can pick up at any grocery store in the liquor section where the mixers are.
