Germany gave up in May of 1945. Japan surrendered in August of 1945.

August 1945 when the Japanese surrendered to Gen. Douglas MacArthur on the decks of the USS MISSOURI in Tokyo Bay.

Germany surrendered in May 1945, but the war didn't officially end until Japan surrendered. That ended ALL of the fighting.

The war officially ended Sept. 2nd, 1945. On August 15th, Hirohito annouced publicly that the war had ended. The armistice was signed on the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay on Sept. 2nd.

ALthought the other answer (August 1945) are correct, Russia and Japan are "officially" still at war. A disputed chain of islands have prevented that conflict from being sent to the history books.
