I agree with the first answer, did you know that in a national survey taken it was shown that low class/poverty class people , food stamp people etc. are fatter than other people because they cannot afford to buy enough of the "good" food they need for a month to live on. so they buy prepared/cheap and other foods that are bad for them to get enough out of them to live for a months worth of food stamps.

You are correct. The reason is to keep people unhealthy, and thus paying a big bulk of their money into the American medical / insurance system. I like healthy food better, too. It tastes better, it tasts more "real". I get upset when I can't afford things too, but that's part of life. Try to find cheap alternatives. A lot of people I know are growing their own organic gardens. Maybe you could try something like that? Gardening also is a stress-reliever and could help you with other things you might be going through that you discussed earlier in your other questions.

BECAUSE SHOPS ARE GREEDY! I live on an orchard we grow and sell fruit to shops as well as overseas. The shops make so much more money than the fruit growers!
Organic fruit and veggies are more expensive because the grower doesn't use chemicals therefore making it harder to grow the fruit because of pests etc. they arent able to produce such large crops.

All of the above PLUS supply and demand. It really pays though to do your homework. Not all organic foods are better for you than foods not marked organic. If you research you will know which organic foods give you more bang for your buck and concentrate on these while maybe settling for non-organic on others.

Some people feel exclusivity by buying organic foods. It like a designer, marketed at the upper class shopper.

Because Organic farms do not produce the high yields that farms that use chemicals do. An Organic farm is more likely to lose a portion of its crop to bugs and rot than a farm that uses bug sprays and chemical soil enhancers. Hope that clears it.

They are as mass produced as the others, they contain none of the chemicals that help the non organic foods stay on the shelve so long and/ or help them grow much faster.

because it's cheaper to put all those chemicals in foods so they don't spoil.
Organic and healthy foods usually don't have very long shelf lives and they are more work because there aren't pesticides or preservatives.
