Another interesting paradox, given that god is all-knowing and all-loving, and he knows the future and the past -- he is the alpha and omega.

We're supposed to believe that an all-knowing, all-loving god, WHO KNEW THE FUTURE AND PAST, got surprised and upset at how things were turning out, so he mass-murdered all his children with a flood??

Interesting idea -- except for the fact that god knows the future and how things turn out, so how did it surprise and anger him? A COMPLETE PARADOX, and a fatal flaw in the bible.

Even with the notion of FREE WILL. It doesn't matter. An all-knowing god, who knows the future, already knows how people will act on their free will. HE ALREADY KNOWS THE FUTURE. So why get angry and kill everyone? Why even set it all into motion, when YOU KNOW THE FUTURE and YOU KNOW YOU WILL FLOOD THE EARTH AND MASS MURDER ALL YOUR CHILDREN?

Way too many fatal flaws in the most critical, pivotal stories in the bible, for it to be the real word of a god.

Tachus Ischus: READ MY QUESTION. Did you miss the point? how was he grieved? HOW?? He ALREADY KNEW THE FUTURE, he already knew it would happen!! How could it posibly surprise him and cause him grief, HE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN THAT WAY! DID YOU MISS EVERY POINT I MADE?? Is your inability to COMPREHEND the reason why you believe in fairy tales???

Roque P Rojas: READ MY QUESTION. I nver said anything was FORCED. I SAID that god is all knowing, the bible claims he is the alpha and omega. HE ALREADY KNOWS how people will act on free will. HE ALREADY KNOWS THE FUTURE. Can ANY OF YOU comprehend what is written??? I think i know why you guys believe this stuff -- you don't comprehend what you read, and you skip over big words and anything you think might be contradictory. HOLY MOLEY!!!

Darryl L: hi Darryl. I see you suffer from the plight of the bible-home-schooled. You say "where did I get surprise?" Well, you don't get angry at something you cause to happen yourself, you don't get angry at something you create and know is going ot happen. that makes no sense. SURPRISE is a FACTOR OF ANGER. Do you know nothing of the nature of emotion? For example -- you have two dogs that always fight when they are together. So YOU decide to put them into a box with each other. You know they are going to fight. You already know the outcome. And then, when they do fight...do you get angry? NOPE. You expected it, you created the event to happen yourself, and you knew the outcome... Just like BIBLE GOD knew the outcome of everything he was setting into motion. How could it come about that suddenly, all this sinnig was going on (that he didn't expect? or that surprised him?) and thus, he got angry about it? In the future, try a real education, Darryl. You'll be amazed

Your right. Here's a good question, Why can some people
like you and me see the errors and flaws, but some
people can't? Are they too brainwashed, they have no
common sense or reason. No logic, what is it?

hi, i'm a 35 365 days student of the unique manuscripts; we could start up with Genesis: study verse a million:a million - "interior the initiating, God created the Heavens and the Earth." Do you notice the era after "earth"?? Now, whilst did it say that God did that? It did no longer; purely "interior the initiating". What you study following that's no longer the 1st advent of the earth, this is the refurbishing of the earth to make it in wonderful condition and liveable for flesh existence. The earth is eons and eons previous. there became an entire earth age formerly this one; you may study of all 3 earth a while in 2d peter. The e book of Hebrews and the e book of Eccles. are the two ideal. The Earth, meaning the terafirma, is eternal, and could never be destroyed. whilst Christ returns, it is the place we can be living, purely as we lived right here eons in the past interior the 1st earth age. what is going to perish is the age, no longer the earth. The a while will substitute, on no account the terafirma.

Love the answer by Readytogo that we can not rely on our understanding of things, but yet it is amazing how many Christians will interpret the bible and it's meanings. That is a contradiction.

Great question and points. It is also interesting that God having created everything means that God created what we know as time. Time is a series of points or events, with which God would have created all those from the beginning of time to the end. Hence God can not be surprised or upset at the events that transpire because he created them. In addition, I had asked a question in regards to what is sin to religious people. A lot of answers were that sin is going against God's will. Kind of hard to think we have free-will because theoretically (according to religious believers) we should be trying to follow God's will, not our own. Hence what is the point of having free-will, because you will sin and head to hell for using it for all eternity.
Great points.

There is no Biblical passage that states God was "surprised" by how society turned out. Of course He knew what was going to happen! You've missed the point. God KNEW that Noah, the first person described in the Bible as "just" and "perfect" (Genesis 6:9), would be born at a certain time. It was ALWAYS His plan to begin again through Noah.

If you read Genesis 6:1-4 carefully, you'll see that Satan, through the fallen angels that followed him, attempted to negate God's prophecy at Genesis 3:15 (which lead to the birth of Christ) by trying to change humankind into a race of half angels, half humans. If only half angel, half human women existed, then Jesus would never have been born of the seed of a woman, would He?

God did not lose control; instead, He showed Satan that He's in COMPLETE control and obliterated his plan into nothing.

How is an all knowing God and Free Will a paradox? God knows every possible thing that we might do in our lives. He knows how each action will affect everything. Take another look at the story of the flood and maybe you'll notice that God was grieved at how evil humanity had become. They were more advanced in what they did than we are now.

God's omniscience isn't a counter to free will. We still have the choice to choose him or not. We still have the choice to get married or not. We still have the choice to live or to kill ourselves. The 2 are not mutually exclusive

Believers treat the Bible as if it were perfect and without flaws, infallible and error-free. The truth, is that the Bible has lots of errors, mistakes, and contradictions. That's only to be expected in a set of texts written and collected over several thousand years. In any other collection, errors and contradictions would be unremarkable. Because it's the Bible, this generates no end of debate.

Amazingly enough, as you blathered on, you didn’t point out one flaw in the Bible. You couldn’t even come up with a good miss-quote. Then you made a fatal error and that is this: if God “mass-murdered all his children with a flood”…. How did we get here? Are you just another ignorant sod trying to discredit a book you have never read?
Go back to your little corner and pick on the dust bunnies and roaches. You can probably domineer them.

I have studied the Bible for years. Never read the part where you claim that he was surprised. Angered, yes. But not surprised. Where do you ignorant folks get your interpretations? IDIOTS R US? There is no paradox, stupid. Only in your mind. You and the fool that started evil bible dot com must get your foolish and totally erroneous ideas from the same place. An idiot like you would love that site, you oughtta check it out. Chris Thieffe is a total joke. The most misled moron on the net. Everything he posts is totally out of context. He cannot even begin to understand the Bible with his lacking IQ. I am shocked that he can even read. He is a lost little boy that's mad at God, and can't grow up. Kinda like you. Good day to you.

From the beginning He said that He would put enmity between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. He did not kill any of His children. They are the seed of the women. What He did in the flood was 1-preserve His people, give a demonstration of world wide destruction so that men would heed His warning that once more He will destroy the earth only with fire. and also gave a type of Baptism being symbolized in the water. The same water that drowned the wicked saved the righteous.

most people take the book of genesis as allegory.

'the good people were saved while the wicked perish'

or you can take it as a real story, but probably a regional flood instead of worldwide flood. to the survivors it would seem like teh world was flooded.

some evidence that supports this is the babolonian story 'the epic of giglamesh' which could indicate there actually was a flood, or that the story was borrowed

Lets see here....

God made a plan for the universe. He than created it. He ordained what would happen, and because of free will, man fell and sinned. this was in his plan. it is not his fault because of free will.
God planned on punishing with the flood. altho he knew it would occur, he planned it would occur, he was still angry. Does it say anywhere he surprised or somthing? no! He knew it would occur, and he planned to punsh it as well. altho God is a loving God, he is also a just God, and sin must be punished.

The Q. is, why did he die to save some? why have mercy and compassion on those who hate him, and turn them to him?
You may call it a paradox, but when you die, unless you repent and believe on Christ alone for your salvation, you will see the truth.
