Because religion is man-made. The notion of "We are destined for something better" is a human attribute. Everyone dreams of being that guy that is the superstar. The bible totally reflects all that is human. Man wrote the bible, man created religion. If you don't believe me, then why are there so many religions. Clearly there can only be one correct one. Therefore all of the others must be man-made.

Nothings gonna take position to the earth, theres no longer something incorrect with the earth, purely the wicked human beings interior the earth will be executed away with the Earth will be right here invariably.... Ecclesiates a million:4 "a era comes and is going although the Earth abides invariably." Psalms 37:29 " The righteous shall inherit the land, and live therein invariably. also Isaiah sixty 5:17 speaks of introduction of a sparkling heavens and a sparkling earth: and the former shall no longer be remembered no longer come into concepts. 2 Peter 3:13 " although we, in accordance to his promise (Jesus) search for a sparkling heavens and a sparkling Earth, in which dwelleth righteousness. meaning the undesirable, the wicked, the incorrect, will be lengthy gone which could propose a sparkling earth lower than righteous rule, the dominion OF GOD AND THE RULERS OF HEAVEN..

When we are raised to heaven on the last day (the second coming of Christ) we will get to return to Eden in the New Jerusalem in Heaven (in outer space some where). 1000 years later it descends to Earth, the nortal rlost get resurrected, judged, then are erased from existance, earth is cleansed by fire, and Earth becomes the New Earth.
You'll notice the book of revelation does mention the tree of life.

Because this is our true home, just not the way it is right now. Until sin entered in, this place (specifically the garden of Eden) was perfect and man was going to live forever. Then a bunch of crud happened and we have to deal with that.

So we could inhabit both. I don't think we will just be stuck on earth or heaven forever without ever leaving. There is a whole universe to explore but Heaven is our true home and earth too I guess.

Great question! Of course the answer is that we are not going to heaven unless we are part of a small elite group whose purpose for going to heaven is to rule as kings and priests with Jesus for a thousand years. The rest of us have a hope of everlasting life on a restored earth.
John 17 : 3: "This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ."
This does not say that this everlasting life will be as spirit creatures in heaven, it just says everlasting life. Neither does it say that at...
John 3:16: "“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life."
God went to an awful lot of trouble to make this planet perfect for humans to live on. It was millions if not billions of years in the making. I believe that what God originally purposed as set forth in the Garden of Eden, will soon take place.
Isaiah 55: 10 & 11: "For just as the pouring rain descends, and the snow, from the heavens and does not return to that place, unless it actually saturates the earth and makes it produce and sprout, and seed is actually given to the sower and bread to the eater, 11 so my word that goes forth from my mouth will prove to be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it."
Why people want to forsake their proper dwelling place, and all the provisions that God has given us on earth is beyond me. I can't wait for the coming new system of things!

An example for us.
From Adam and Eve, umbilical cord to umbilical cord, would come Christ.
They ate (assimilated or consumed knowledge) from the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Satan).
That's why God said;
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
We all must eat (assimilate or consume knowledge) of the tree of life (Jesus Christ), to live for ever.

to see if we really did want heaven and to serve God, if we get saved by Jesus in our hearts on earth, then we passed the test and get to go to heaven.
just like only kids with good grades/want to play in sports, do end up playing sports.
if you want it, then get it. only through Jesus though can you get to heaven.
