You are now ready to become a brownie expert. Just follow these simple instructions.

Brownie Equipment
Step 1: Gather Brownie Equipment
You will need the proper utensils to make these brownies. All the utensils in this picture should be easy to find. You will need one bowl, even though there are two pictured, one glass 8x8 baking pan, dish towle or oven mitt, a spatula, mixing spoon, measuring cups and measuring spoons. If you do not have all utensils required you should be able to find all of these at Wall Mart or Target stores.

Ingredients Needed
Step 2: Gather Brownie Ingredients
Now you need all the proper ingredients listed and pictured at the side of the page.

6 Tablespoons Cocoa

1/4 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1/2 Teaspoon vanilla

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/3 cup flour

1 cup toasted pecans (optional)

2 eggs

Step 3: Melt and Mix
Melt 1/4 cups of butter in a microwaveable dish.

Measure 6 tablespoons of Cocoa powder into the mixing bole.

Add melted butter and mix.

Step 4: Add to Batter
I cup sugar

2 eggs

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

Step 5: Mix it
This is how your final batter should look. If you would like to add pecans to your batter do it now.

Now, pre-heat oven to 325 degrees.

Step 6: Flour the Pan
You will need to flour the baking pan. First, cover the glass dish with Crisco or butter. Then put a few tablespoons of flour, or cocoa in the dish and shake it until the sides and bottom are covered. This will keep the brownies from sticking to the dish.

Step 7: Pour
Pour the brownie batter into the dish.

Step 8: Cook and Cool
After your oven has preheated to 325, put the brownies into the oven for 35-40 minutes. Poke your brownies with a toothpick. If the tooth pick comes out clean, your brownies are done! Now, take them out of the oven and let them cool until slightly warm. You are ready to cut and serve.

I've used chocolate chips or nuts or dried tart cherries or all of the above. Also, butterscotch chips or caramels cut into very small pieces would be tasty. Even coconut...or crushed peppermints.
Don't add more than 1/2 to 3/4 cup of something til you know how it will behave, and be sure to grease the pan well cause anything you add will make it extra sticky. You could even line the bottom of the whole pan with a piece of parchment paper, that way for sure the bottom won't stick - let us know what you decide and how it turns out!!!

Melt caramels in the microwave. Once they're soft, pour it over the brownies in a layer once it's in the pan. Can do brownie mix, then a layer of caramel, then more brownie mix. Or you can lightly drizzle the caramel on top.

use apple sauce in place of the oil ( it's healthier and tastes great) add in some walnuts or anyother favorite nut ( but before you do... toast the nuts buy laying on a cookie sheet in a singel layer and place in the oven @450 stir after they have been in there for 3 minutes and bake another 3 minutes or until you can begin to smell them... remove and they will continue to bake...let cool 5 minutes before adding them to the mixed batter.. ice cream topping carmel is good to drizzle on top before baking as well as shaved dark chocolate or semi sweet chips mixed right in...what ever your choice make sure you eat a hot one right out of the oven with cold vanilla bean ice-cream!
I think I'm gonna go bake some too!

Try putting in a handful of chocolate, butterscotch or peanut butter chips. When the brownies bake, the chips melt and get gooey. yummy!

If you're not allergic to pecans, than they are always good in brownies. Try a cup of Chunky Peanut Butter!

i love brownies! i made some yesterday. i did not put choc. chips in them. my way of making brownies better is crushing up oreos and putting them on top and then making a little bit of icing (flour and milk) and just putting a little over top of the brownies. you put the ores on before baking but you put the icing on afterwards. you dont even have to put icing on if you dont want to. but you can always put choc. chips in it and oreos on top! it tastes sooo good! choc. chips alone wont make your brownis amazing!
