Religious believers think that their loved one is going to a better place to be with their God, so why upset? It makes no sense, or is it really a case of the religious believer being selfish and feeling bad for themselves. Why not a huge party in the streets, celebrating the movement to a better place, or are religious people just genuinely not happy that their loved one went to a better place? Please help me understand.

Great question. I honestly don't know.

I think that Christians don't really believe in their bible or you're right, they would have a party when someone dies.

Faith and the belief that the individual has "gone to a better place" (Have you know anyone who has died that sent back a message saying, "Having a good time, wish you were here!" We have faith that it's a better place, and it makes us feel better), has nothing to do with missing that person in the physical realm.

Just think of it, someone you may have known 20, 30, 40, 50+ years, and then they are gone. It's human to be sad and miss them.

Well I am Christian, and so if a family member or someone close to me passes away, deep down I know that if they were saved, that they are in a better place, way better than this earth. The sad part comes from knowing that I will miss that person here on Earth. I guess you could call it selfish and feeling bad for yourself, but thats what it is for me...I know that they are in a better place, but at the same time I know I will miss them.

We should be happy and celebrate the person's life. I think doubt plays a part in this not happening. Since God is the ultimate judge on a person's eternal soul, we have no control in that matter.

The Bible teach we long for the flesh. It's our nature, but I say celebrate and be joyful if the person had accepted Christ.

no one in my family has ever said they wished the person didn't die, as this is simply the way it is.they all or real Christians, and we don't celebrate.which is really a good idea to. but we don't mourn like some do.But I stayed with My dear Mother for nine months with no help.till she died a very painful death with Cancer.and it did affect me greatly, I still cry sometimes. because of seeing her go thru so much pain.and it hurt me,I felt her pain,.But I know she is in heaven so Its just an emotional thing i have to work out.I wish you the best on your spiritual journey

That is true
The real believers know that if someone is in a better place then they are happy...
most Muslims that i know when someone that believes in Islam and pious die, they don't feel sad, because they know life is temporary.
Christians (not all)... they cry a lot... i wonder why as well??? If they really believe is the truth why cry...
Jews... i have no clue?
Other religions i don't know...

Because we'll miss them. Just like when a Parent's son is off to college and they cry. They're happy that he's going to better himself, but they'll miss him while he's gone.

the notion of...beleiving that they are now in heaven..is wrong

but the feeling of sadness when one is dead is normal

like jesus .there were tears in his eyes when lazarus died....(John 11:33, 35)

but those dead are awaiting to be ressurected IN THE END..not instantly being rssurected right away to heaven.........john 6:39-40

besides he also spoke of them being ressurected in the future...john 5:28-29

like abraham and lazarus.....are now in the grave....not in heaven.......luke 16:24

so what is the condition of the dead?

no thoughts no feelings......psalm 146:4....ecclesiastes 9:5,6.....9:10-11

but now they are sleep(state of non existence) in death.(John 11:11-14)

We are happy if they have given their lives to Christ, but we still miss them. It is trickier when there are loved one who we know that have been mocking God and their time ids up. That is very sad.
