You can go to jail for a misdemeanor. It is a civil offense similar to speeding or graffitti.

"" Isn't jaywalking a misdemeanor?""

possible in some places but no generally its an Infraction... which is of lower consequence than a misdemeanor.
And a DUI car crash with a death is a misdemeanor.

And to the asker. Common sense will tell you that you contradicted yourself. A misdemeanor is a crime which means its a criminal offense. Unless someone has redefined the basic concepts of law.

Just a misdemeanor? So does that mean that it is not against the law if it is "just a misdemeanor?" I only stole a little bit....I only hit the guy in the face once...I only borrowed the car that didn't belong to me...
Where do you get off?

A midemeanor is still a crime. If your working with a stolen identy it's a crime. If you're working under the table and not paying taxes, it's a crime. And the list goes on.

everyone has broke one of those does it make them all illegals

No but it does make them a criminal or have a criminal record......

Isn't jaywalking a misdemeanor?

And of course, Americans rarely jaywalk. In fact, they have armed patrols in every major city in the U.S., devoted to catching jaywalkers.

Don't they?
