she moved in with us with alzimers. since my papa is in the hospital with a broken arm and pelvis. She seems to be working well, but I would just like a way to make her feel more at home. She doesn't walk arounnd much, she watches TV with us, but overall doesn't fit well because she stays at home 24/7 and my family is constantly on the run with sports work and picking kids up. Any suggestions?

you could always have a conversation with her about sompthing she likes, or you could go out with her and do sompthing just for her.

Sit down and talk with her, every day and find out if there is any thing she wants or needs. She may not always make sence, or she may not talk at all but you can talk too about your day, problems at work/school.

you can take her with you when you go to pick up the kids. And if the weather is nice and the kids are involved in outdoor activities take her with. Just make sure someone stays with her at all times. If it is hard for her to get arround get her a wheel chair, walker or some sort of assistive device. Medicare sometimes pays for them if they are prescribed by a doctor.

and take her to the hospital to visit with your papa which I assume is her husband. She misses him more than you do.

make her feel important. talk with her. don't ignore her or give her the feeling of less worth than the rest of family. remember she has feelings like everyone else, she wants to feel important, needed and loved. give her the respect, you would want given to you and love, love, love her. ask her opinions, praise her for the knowledge that she does have and never put her down or belittle her.

Talk with her -- tell you about your day. As a grandmother myself, there's nothing more that I love than spending time with my grandchildren learning about their day and what's going on in their minds.

Even if she doesn't completely understand what you're saying or what's going on in your life, you being with her will be enough. She just wants some of your time.
