The purpose of this test is to check your reflexes and neurological status. An absense of the reflex could indicate nerve damage.

RE:
A routine examination by a doctor usually includes the knee-jerk test. What is the purpose of this test?
What could the absence of a response indicate?

If you're knee jerks, then your reflex in that area is fine. If it doesn't jerk, you have no reflex there and your Dr. may want to take tests.

It's to check your reflexes. I supose no response would mean you have bad or slow reflexes.

It tests your involuntary reflexes.. It might mean you have neurological damage if you dont "respond".
