What does the word "mismo" mean? Does it mean "same"? Or "himself"? I need help! I don't trust translators lol.

and once i've heard "lo mismo que...." what does that phrase mean?

lo mismo que = the same as

he did it himself = lo hizo él mismo

do it yourself = hazlo tú mismo(a)

it means "same". "lo mismo que" is "the same as" or "the same that".
However it is often used for emphasis. "It was done by Bill himself" - the last words will be "Bill mismo" or "el mismo Bill" which would be litterally "the same Bill" but does not mean that.
"tú mismo" can be translated by "you yourself" - "mismo" is the emphatic idea of "same". like saying "you, really you, the same you".
That is why some people think it means "self".

It can mean both. If you say, "es lo mismo" you're saying "it's the same. But, if you say "lo hace si mismo" you're saying, "he/she does it his/herself. It's all in the context

"lo mismo que.." means the "it's the same as"
