Click on Control Panel. Then click on Security Center. Then you will see the firewall options, automatic updates options, and then virus protection. Go down by the bottom and click on Automatic Updates link. Automatic will be selected by default. Go down by the bottom and there is a option for turn off Automatic Updates. Click on it, and then click apply. Then you will have a little balloon pop up on your toolbar that says, "Your Computer might be at risk". That tells you that automatic updates are turned off.

The update's are there for your computer safety. If you turn them off you will have to go in every couple of day's and install them anyway,or your computer will be outdated before it's time.Leave them on auto, they don't bother you that much to turn them off.Set the time for them to update when your away from the computer,i never know mine's even on.
