There is no such thing as a hiatus hernia. You are talking about a hiatal hernia. Large hiatal hernias can cause some of the symptoms you mentioned, but so can other conditions. Linda is correct. You can't be diagnosed properly in here. A workup involves more information than what you can provide this way. You need to see your physician. The symptoms you describe, as well as your recent medical history, warrant a visit to your doctor.

Hiatus Hernia surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her Hernia and colostomy surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for Minimal Invasive and Laparoscopy surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange Hernia, Appendectomy, Thyroid and other laparoscopy surgery for foreigners in India.
I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the Hernia, Colostomy and other minimal invasive surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

The best way to control it is to take the medications that your doctor should have given you. Avoid smoking, alcohol and fried or spicy foods. Allow time to digest your food, eating little and often rather than one huge meal a day.

See your doctor and get him to prescribe omeprozole or similar. It blocks acid production and pretty much controls the symptoms. I had this and ended up needing an operation to repair it. Major surgery - not pleasant.

Eat smaller meals more frequently, and do not eat closer than 2 hours before bed at night( or after a meal in the daytime). If you are overweight reduce.
