That depends on how religious you are. I personally don't think so. While it's not necessarily a good habit (in fact there are conditions where people actually fail to perform with a partner because of the conditioning of excess masturbation), it certainly keeps you safe from disease and pregnancy and teaches you about your body and what turns you on.

The idea that it's a sin comes from the Bible when God punished a man (sorry, don't remember his name) for "spilling his seed" on a rock instead of impregnating his wife (who I believe was his brother's wife previous to this relationship). This might actually be where they pull the "sinfulness" of contraception from as well.

Nope, not in this day and age. Bible says otherwise but if your not religious you don't have to worry. Everyone does it. If it is a sin then most of the worlds population is fecked.

i am going to provide you with the Catholic answer. sexual sex, in the bonds of marriage for sure, has 2 applications. sex creates new existence and also brings a married couple closer jointly. The Catholic church does no longer evaluate some thing "wasted" at the same time as an infertile married couple has sex.

I don't believe in sin.

I believe in things that work and things that don't work.

And, with masturbation...well I guess that depends on the individual. It's certainly a great way NOT to get STD's, or have to deal with complicated situations in relationships.
