Yes. One of the things you can do is to try and memorize lists of things. Teach yourself mental tricks (for example, the colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. How do I remember that? I took the first letter of each word and pretended it was a person's name - Roy G. Biv). I did that when I was a little kid. I'm chasing down 60 now and can still remember it. Try practicing math problems in your head. Try reading an article and then seeing how much of it you can recall. Play games of "memory" with cards. Lots of stuff you can do. Good luck.

Something called the MIndfulness of Breathing has been proven Very effective to improve a person's memory, concentration and ability to focus on things for long periods of time.
Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD. has a book out called
"Coming to our Senses" which talks about this in length. He uses the term Mindfulness Meditation, but it is the same as The MIndfulness of Breathing. It is also used to reduce anxiety, stress, and to erradicate depression. There are many sites on the internet on the Mindfulness of Breathing as well.

It may sound childish, but try those memory games kids play. Also, try repeating things orally, writing things down and using a planner or calender.
