You don't specify in what way it's bad. Have you tried to keep a notepad with you and write things down? Perhaps your just not organized. Forget about pills and other herbal supplements, they are not FDA approved. If it's that important to you, look for a good book on improving memory or study habits and getting organized.
If you're problem is with school work try mnemonics (yes, that's how it's spelled) which is a method of developing your own code for remembering things. Check out the links below for starters.
Everyone needs a bit of help sometimes. Give it a shot. You may just need to get organized.

Exercise your brain! Start doing math problems, crossword puzzles, sudoku. Do some physical exercise too, it increases blood flow, which improves brain function. Take a regular multi vitamin in case it is a vitamin deficiency. Make sure you get enough sleep, sleep vastly improves your brain function. you need 7-8 hours. Drink more water, your brain relies on it to function. Drink more than you think you need! Caffeine can help also. and look at your stress, I bet you lose your keys alot more often when you are stressed out.
good luck!

1. pay attention
2. listen closely
3. find mnemonics
4. concentrate on every detail
it really does help!!
(if it's for studying, try to study in the same place you'll be taking your test. you'd be surprised how it helps!!)
