Yes, it's safe to play, I play almost every days on several sites. Many people are worried about the "ripoff", but, first it's not in there interest, especially "famous" site like POKER STARS, FULL TILT, DOYLES ROOM.......etc.

Second most of those site explain which process they use.

Take care

Very safe to play. I play there often and made about 10K last year. It is impossible for bots to play due to the nature of the software. The only potential problem is collusion (where players that know each other sit at the same table and are in the same room or on the phone together so they know what cards both players hold.) However, when I first started playing at PokerStars, I had a friend that lived in another state and we liked to play together. After we had sat at the same table about 5 times, I received an email from PokerStars letting me know that they had noticed that we were both sitting at the same table frequently and we needed to stop.

Remeber, PokerStars made roughly 9 billion dollars last year. It is in their best interest to make the environment as safe and cheat-free as possible because they want people to come back. They make their money no matter who wins the pot.

Pokerstars is the safest place to play online. They have tons of players and are the most financially stable site out there. The only issue is that due to changes in their 3rd party money handlers (b/c of the US law) it's harder to move money in and out of the site. I expect this to change in coming weeks/months, however.
