It has been cold here lately, and I have been wearing layers to bed.

sleep in no clothes. instead, try putting on extra blankets. this allows even distribution of body heat. this prevents your upper body burning up and having cold feet at the same time

No, but it may be more comfortable to some and in response, allows them to go to sleep quicker, stay sleep longer, and thereby not notice the cold temperature through the night. More clothes will make you warmer and can be enhanced by a thick comforter and jersey (t-shirt material) linen. Interestingly enough, that one thin sheet that goes under your comforter, makes you much warmer than sleeping under the comforter alone, which is why I recommend your sheet be jersey, for feel (or satin, if that's your thing as well).

Sometimes it will make you warmer than sleeping in layers because if you sweat at night the watery sweat will make you cold. Try sleeping in less clothes.

More clothes=more insulation=more conservation of heat =warmer
