My parents have been paying $14,760 or £7500 on my private education, and i can honestly say that if you can afford to send your children there you should. I went to a public school for 2 years, in there i was physically bullied, teased practically every day and although you can't gaurantee that there is no bullying in private schools on average it is a safe bet that it is almost no existant. As for boarding schools, of which i have attended for about 2 months in my opinon create more worry and stress for the parents, this is the same with overseas private schools

When you say private, do you mean parochial school? I have had the experience in sending my son to parochial school and I found out that all they care about is money. If you donate till you are blue in the face, everyone is your friend, if you close the checkbook, they snub you. I was paying 2300 a year and that's not counting all the donations(some were mandatory) and the cost of uniforms and other materials they don't supply plus paying for his after school care. I sent my son to public school and he is doing much better. And if you are considering sending your child to private school to shield him or her from all the "bad" things that happen in public school, don't waste your money. The private schools are just as bad if not worse.
