The vocabulary lists here are highly organised. The below link has the list of words categorised into Animals, Insects, Body Parts etc etc

You can also see the list of words most used in English, ie. 3000 most common english words, and a novice could go in for the Ogden's basic english list (of 850 words).
There are also many games like hangman and scrambled words (and many many other), that make learning english that much more fun.
