i've always felt that i was a little... off. and after researching several personality disorders, i found that i exhibit several symptoms similar to that of a person with a schizoid personality disorder. this is jsut a self diagnosis however and i'm not a professional by any means. i'm not sure if i should say anything to anyone and i can't exactly go to professional for diagnosis considering i'm not 18 or anything... so im not sure what to do. im not sure what my question is... haha just looking for general advice i guess.

Of course you can go to a professional, at any age theres no 18 yrs limitation, just tell your parents you want to go see the doctor about something.
But yes self diagnosis is at times mis-correct, they may see something you don't and they would have studied schizoid personalities in person and a lot more often.
But you have a basis, so go talk to them tell them your symptoms and let them work it out, I was diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic at about age 14, your more than capable of seeing a doctor.

This is why it is important that you be diagnosed by a professional.

A professional would know that someone under 18 cannot be diagnosed formally with any personality disorder because the personality is not yet formed.

Many teenagers exhibit "traits" of many of the personality disorders until they form a secure sense of self and identity. Since you are still a teen, try just relaxing and enjoying your teen years. Don't worry, if you are 30 and still exhibiting maladaptive personality traits, you'll be in touch with professionals.

You can go to a professional even though you are not 18. I did. I was 16 when I was diagnosed with what I have. Go seek help, you cannot diagnose yourself, it is a bad thing to do. I reccommend seeing your family doctor and talking to them, you could ask to be referred to a psychologist to get a diagnosis.

ABSOLUTELY, what Riptide said, DON'T SELF DIAGNOSE. You are working on a preconceived notion that in itself could be flawed. Best to leave it to the professionals. And since you are not yet a legal adult, talk to your school counselor and see what they have to say about it. They may even be able to help shed light on whatever is causing you this worry.

Talk to your parent or guardian show them the research you have done and ask them to have you evaluated by a physician or mental health expert.

Happiness doesn't come from a label e.g. schizoid personality. Begin with trying to be normal and trying to be involved in society.

if you are in school...make an appt to talk to your counciler and share this info. maybe she can help you decide whether or not you need to pursue getting more professional help. of course....the first answer i would give is to talk to your parents about it...but sometimes its easier to first share with someone else.
good luck.
