You are smart to be doing research - keep at it - if you were in Cleveland I could point you in the right direction - but the best advise I can give is look at other people's work, check the artist's portfolio and don't take someones word that they are good at portrait work. My hubby is a tattoo artist and darn good one - but he won't attempt a portrait. Because there are so many small lines they can "go south" real fast and it's hard to recover something like that - really no room for error.

the first artist that comes to mind is kat von d from miami ink. she only tattoos in miami when the show is being filmed and is based out of a shop in los angeles. i'll do some quick searches and see if i can find someone closer to you.

located in bay area in california...his schedule is super packed though...booked my appt in oct 06'. and not getting the tattoo until this week...if i wanted a weekend appt...would have had to wait until late May 07'. When I was booking the appt...guy there flew in that morning from Idaho and they had a guy the week before that flew in from Amsterdam.

Have you ever seen the Show Miami Ink on TLC?? well go to Miami and get Omi (?) to do it. And watch the show. They are super cool and really good at it. Or get the girl in their shop (Miami Ink) to do it. She is really good too. And have you ever seen the design on The tatooed Razor Cell Phone? well, Omi drew that. he is one of the best tatooist in the world. Go to Miami. Find them.
